History made interesting!!
‘The Year of the Horsetails’ by R.F. Tapsell is an excellent , well imagined fictional tale based on history where we are introduced with character known as ‘Bardiya’ who is a soldier in the army of Kagan of the brutal Mongol, like central Asian nomad people of the Tugars. Escaping the barbaric militarily superior Tugars, Bardiya helps villagers to defend themselves.
The author has put across the cultures and society of the early dark ages in a very interesting manner describing the landscapes and battles captivating all the non history lovers.
The novel has a well planned plot, heroic characters, adventure, romance and war, everything necessary for a perfect narrative. It is a must read, I would highly recommend this novel to all esp. history lovers with an interest in fictional heroic characters.
